Planning Process Howland Township began the process of updating the comprehensive community plan in the Fall of 2007. It began with a request for qualifications from planning firms by November 16, 2007, and then ultimately a request for proposals from those firms township officials deemed most qualified. Three planning firms were interviewed in February 2008. The selection committee selected the Stantec team based upon the excitement of the team and approach they proposed. The Stantec proposal, and the planning approach that will be used to develop the plan, can be found in the Howland RFQ Submittal (2 MB PDF). The planning process by which the plan update will be developed will occur over the next 15-18 months. The plan will be a byproduct of numerous steering committee meetings, community forums, and an interactive online community survey that will take place in the Summer of 2008. The first steering committee meeting was held in May 2008. Up to ten or more committee meetings will be held over the planning process until its completion on or before October 2009.
